Exploring the smooth flowing waters and riverine vegetation of the Lufupa and Kafue River, Kafue National Park, Zambia provides many wildlife and birding encounters, while big game can be seen on the grassy plains adjacent to the meeting of these great rivers.

Guests at either camp can discover the diverse landscapes and animal habitats which surround the Lufupa and Kafue River, Kafue National Park, Zambia. Game drives explore the floodplain delta system, woodlands and dambos. Sightings of Puku, Impala, and Defassa Waterbuck are common while Lichtenstein's Hartebeest is one of the more unusual species.

This area is well known for its good Leopard viewing. Elephant and Lion sightings occur regularly. Plains game include Zebra, Buffalo and greater Kudu, as well as Roan and Sable Antelope which are seen less often. Kafue is a birdwatchers heaven with at least 500 species to spot including African Finfoot, Pel’s Fishing Owl and Half-Collared Kingfisher.

Kafue National Park is one of the largest parks in Africa at 22 500 square kilometres and has the highest mammal species diversity in Zambia. The three main rivers are the Lufupa, Lunga and Kafue. The park is part of a transfrontier initiative which aims to establish a world-class conservation area spanning five African countries to be known as the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation area – or Kaza Park.
