North Luangwa National Park

North Luangwa is one of the wildest places on earth! It is so remote that no self-drive safaris are allowed inside the park and you may only enter if accompanied by a licensed guide. In North Luangwa you may witness a spectacle very few people ever see - a grand herd of Buffalo more than 2,000 strong!

There is an incredible diversity of habitats in North Luangwa, ranging from mahogany forests, mopane woodlands and the Luangwa and Mwaleshi Rivers. North Luangwa is home to Lion, Leopard, Elephants and numerous antelopes, plus an awesome variety of birds including Pel's fishing owl and purple crested turaco.

Climate:

Dry Season:
The best time to visit North Luangwa is during the dry season from June to November. This season starts off warm with daytime temperatures in the region of 24°C (75°F) but quite cool nights. It then heats up in October and November to about 35°C (95°F) with little humidity.

Rainy Season:
The hot and humid rainy season is from December to March and it is not advisable to visit North Luangwa during these months as tracks become impassable.

The Luangwa Valley

The Luangwa Valley has the most spectacular National Parks in Zambia and covers almost the entire eastern region of the country. There is really only one main road leading there, but fly-in safaris make it easily accessible.
