Guests on a Lower Zambezi safari can see game on guided canoe adventures, sunset river cruises and safari game drives. Bush walks and fully equipped fishing safaris are also offered. This area on the river was specifically chosen for the Royal Zambezi Lodge so that a variety of activities could be made available.
Bird watching enthusiasts can pass many happy hours on a Zambia vacation keeping a look out for the more than 300 bird species in this area. The Zambezi River is home to the Tiger Fish and many types of freshwater fish.
Fishing and fly-fishing
Tiger fishing is best between September and March (high summer). Guests can set off with a guide in fully kitted aluminium boats. Rods, tackle and flies are provided or guests can bring their own. Help and guidance is always available. The Royal Zambezi Lodge operates on a catch and release basis.
Game viewing
The Lower Zambezi National Park is known for its huge Elephant and Buffalo herds. Game can also be seen along the river and on the islands. The open vehicle game drives and other adventures are led by experienced guides.
Guests can also enjoy exciting night drives and walking safaris. Photographic and Birding Safaris are also available. Guided canoe trips and sunset river cruises are great ways to see the prolific wildlife and birdlife which are drawn to the river.
Touch Spa
This purpose built bush Spa is a first in the area. Its minimalist design and stylish interiors include a central courtyard and lounge and 2 treatment rooms. The air is filled with the aroma of scented candles and essences while guests enjoy the many treatments on offer. The Spa uses environmentally friendly products. Treatments include wraps, massage and facials, waxing, treatments for hands and feet and pamper packages.
